Recap: Kingstree Blazers vs. Marion Swamp Foxes
The Kingstree Blazers waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down Marion 53-34. This was payback for Kingstree, who suffered a 47-40 loss the last time these two teams met.
Kingstree's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from MAKAYLA DUKES, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. DUKES is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least five every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of NAYDIA SHAW, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Marion's loss came despite strong showings from Sheteira Bethea and Jaeda Davis. Bethea scored ten points, while Davis scored ten points.
Kingstree's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.8 points. As for Marion, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingstree will face off against the Swamp Foxes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marion, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
