Football Game Preview: Patuxent Panthers vs. Great Mills Hornets + Official Tickets

Patuxent has gone a perfect 5-0 against Great Mills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will welcome the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Patuxent took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Calvert by a score of 21-14. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won three in a row.

Patuxent's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Watson, who threw for 126 yards and three TDs. The Panthers are undefeated when Watson posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Antoine Wilkins helped Watson out on the ground, rushing for 129 yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Patuxent proved: they limited Calvert to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Nathan Sands for the heroic effort on defense: he. Patuxent's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 2.86 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.9 on average over their last five games.

Meanwhile, Great Mills didn't have too much trouble with Lackey on Friday as they won 28-14.

Patuxent better focus on containing Kian Bush and Zhaykahrii Plater as the pair were huge in Great Mills' win. Bush threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, while Plater rushed for 103 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those 103 rushing yards gave Plater a new career-high.

Great Mills' victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Patuxent, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
