After both having extra time off, the Marion Bulldogs and the Hondo Owls will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marion is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 14 games.
On Friday, Marion got the win against Cole by a conclusive 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Cougars since October 25, 2022.
Marion never let Cole on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-22, 25-15.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Hondo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 3-0 to Crystal City.
While Hondo ultimately came up short, they really made Crystal City work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-11, 25-14.
Marion will have to contain Araceli Fernandez as she made an impact in Hondo's last game. She had 18 digs and one assist. Fernandez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.
Hondo's loss dropped their record down to 23-14. As for Marion, their victory bumped their record up to 30-8.
Marion beat Hondo 2-0 in their previous matchup back in August. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
