Softball Recap: Mead Victorious

Mead's tournament run continued when they took on Discovery Canyon on Saturday. The Mavericks skirted past the Thunder 11-9.

Rosie Robuck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Halie Gippe, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September. Kinley Bussard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Mead hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Mead now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Discovery Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Mead didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Pueblo Central on the 18th. Discovery Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
