Basketball Recap: Discovery Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

Discovery won the last time they faced Avon Park and things went their way on Friday too. The Discovery Spartans enjoyed a cozy 80-64 win over the Avon Park Red Devils. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tayvion Jones, who posted 20 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Damari Cohen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Discovery is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Avon Park, with the loss, they broke their 15-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-2.

Discovery and Avon Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Discovery (ranked 103rd) will meet Haines City (ranked 314th) at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Discovery is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Avon Park will take on McLaughlin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 588 places (205 vs. 793).
