Softball Recap: Winn Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Winn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Pearsall on Thursday by a score of 5-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Winn hasn't had any issues with Pearsall recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Mayte Figueroa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Figueroa wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilian Hurtado, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Winn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pearsall only posted a batting average of .182.

Winn's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Pearsall, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Winn and Pearsall will both be playing Saint Mary's Hall the next time they take the field. Pearsall will head out to face Saint Mary's Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Winn will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
