Recap: Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves vs. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles
On Friday, the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves faced the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory came out on top against Guerin Catholic by a score of 59-50. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has scored all season.
It was another big night for Javawn Brooks, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Haywood, who scored 14 points.
Guerin Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bryson Cardinal, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Cardinal has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Dylan Murans was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Guerin Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will take on Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Indianapolis Bishop Chatard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is ranked 25th). As for Guerin Catholic, they will be playing at home against Liberty Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kendrick Martin and Robert Sorensen.
