Basketball Game Preview: Pantego Christian Panthers vs. UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES

The Pantego Christian Panthers will take on the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Thursday, Pantego Christian humbled Highlands with a 70-34 victory. With the Panthers ahead 37-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Pantego Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aj Brooks, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, and Evan Jackson, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jackson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Raiford, who posted nine points and four steals.

Meanwhile, UME Preparatory Academy gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Highlands 74-48. The EAGLES pushed the score to 63-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blazers cut but never quite recovered from.

Pantego Christian better keep an eye on Lemuel Moitinho Martinez. He was instrumental in UME Preparatory Academy's win, going 8-for-17 en route to 18 points. Moitinho Martinez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Levi Dawkins was another key player, shooting 46% from the field to rack up 13 points and five steals.

UME Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Pantego Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against UME Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2021, but they still walked away with a 67-62 win.
