Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy - Canyons Falls Despite Big Games from Breana Mangiacapra and Sara San Giovanni

Somerset Academy - Canyons was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highlands Christian Knights.

Somerset Academy - Canyons actually scored more points across those five sets (114-109), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 23-25, 16-25, 29-27, 16-14.

Sara San Giovanni and Breana Mangiacapra certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. San Giovanni had 24 assists and three aces, while Mangiacapra had 11 kills, four aces, and one block. Gemma Murry was another key player, getting eight kills and two blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Makenzie Doane, who had ten digs and six aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Highlands Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Somerset Academy - Canyons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highlands Christian, they will welcome Sports Leadership & Management at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
