Newton extended their postseason success on Friday against Troup. They blew past the Tigers 46-13. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Newton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendray Porter led the charge by rushing for 153 yards and a pair of TDs. The Eagles also got a significant boost from Deldrick Samuel, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Newton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 416 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Newton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Dayland Alfred, Samuel, and Braylen Patterson picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Troup still got an impressive performance from Dee Hollie, who picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hollie got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 76 yards.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Troup, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 12-1.

Looking ahead, Newton will take on Arp at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Troup does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
