Softball Game Preview: Toronto Red Knights vs. Madonna Blue Dons

For the first time this season, Toronto will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Madonna Blue Dons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Toronto gave up the first runs last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against David Anderson as Toronto made off with a 13-7 victory.

Laney Danko made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Danko was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Wright, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jaylee Brown, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.

Toronto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as David Anderson only managed nine hits.

Meanwhile, Madonna got themselves on the board against Catholic Central on Monday, but Catholic Central never followed suit. They blew past the Crusaders 18-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Dons.

Madonna now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Toronto, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Toronto took their victory against Madonna when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-2. Will Toronto repeat their success, or does Madonna has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
