Football Recap: Topsail Comes Up Short

Topsail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 17-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laney Buccaneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 26-12 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Eli Hebron threw for 142 yards and a touchdown. Jack O'Day was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Mathew Hays rushed for 33 yards.

Laney can attribute much of their success to Joquin Dingle, who rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Topsail now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Laney, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

As of now, neither Topsail nor Laney have any future games scheduled.
