Pagosa Springs had won four straight games and Colton Lucero did his part to make it five on Friday. The Pirates skirted past the Alamosa Mean Moose 24-21 with plenty of help from Lucero, who rushed for 175 yards and one TD. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 132 rushing yards.

Pagosa Springs' win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Alamosa, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Pagosa Springs will head out to challenge Elizabeth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests. As for Alamosa, they will take on Wellington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mean Moose 13.6, the Eagles 4.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
