Volleyball Recap: Melbourne Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Melbourne was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Eau Gallie on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Brevard HEAT Firehawks on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Brevard HEAT scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 25-17.

Melbourne's offense was headlined by Maiya Jackson and Lovissa Felix, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Lily Sigety and her 24 assists. Marley Sliwinski controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Melbourne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Brevard HEAT, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Melbourne will head out to challenge Satellite at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brevard HEAT, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Calvary Chapel Academy on the 15th.
