Football Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winfield can now relate to. They were dealt a 50-14 defeat at the hands of the Wamego Red Raiders on Friday. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.

Winfield's loss came despite strong showings from Elijah Bergesen and Eli Tagg. Bergesen rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, while Tagg picked up nine receiving yards and one TD. Bergesen's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

Winfield is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. As for Wamego, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Winfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wamego, they will face off against Buhler on Friday.
