Football Recap: Sublette Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Sublette and Oxford squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Sublette had to settle for second. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Sublette lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashton Koehn, who picked up 258 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 65 yards. Drake Webber was another key player, having thrown for 306 yards and four touchdowns.

Oxford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Gaither out in front who rushed for 272 yards and three scores while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. Gaither also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble, making 13 total tackles, and defending one pass. Chase Douglas was another major influence, as he rushed for 98 yards and ran in a TD.

Sublette's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Oxford, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Sublette does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oxford, they will square off against Hill City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ringnecks' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
