The Hanson Memorial Tigers will challenge Ascension Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Hanson Memorial took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 17-1 margin over Westgate. Hanson Memorial hasn't had any issues with Westgate recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Onnie Doucet made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camren Rochel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amelia Reynolds, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Hanson Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Ascension Christian's hitters rose to the challenge against a Green Devils pitching crew that boasted an average of only four runs allowed on Wednesday. Everything went Ascension Christian's way against Plaquemine as Ascension Christian made off with a 16-1 victory. Ascension Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.
Emory Walter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walter was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Grace Aucoin and Aubri Shaffett did most of the damage at the plate: Aucoin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Shaffett went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Avery Rome was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
The win made it two in a row for Ascension Christian and bumps their season record up to 3-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs over those games. As for Hanson Memorial, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
