Preview: Northern Valley Huskies vs. Western Plains Bobcats
Northern Valley has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Western Plains Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northern Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Even though Northern Valley has not done well against Stockton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Northern Valley came out on top against Stockton by a score of 48-35. The win was all the more spectacular given Northern Valley's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Stockton is ranked 119th).
Northern Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Audrey Bina out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Delaney Sides, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Western Plains' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 58-38 loss at the hands of Cheylin. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Western Plains has suffered since December 5, 2023.
Northern Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Western Plains, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
