Football Recap: Norton Takes a Loss

Norton played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs 55-6. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.

Hadyn Rice threw for 54 yards and one TD. Tyler Backman was his top target, picking up 90 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Ashton Kats rushed for 104 yards on only 11 carries.

Thomas More Prep-Marian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew Meagher led the charge by rushing for 74 yards and three touchdowns. Another signal caller making a difference was Carson Liles, who threw for 133 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten passes.

Norton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Norton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 28-20 loss against Smith Center on the 19th. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 20-19 win against Phillipsburg on the 19th.
