Softball Game Preview: Century Centurions vs. Saddleback Roadrunners

The Century Centurions will challenge the Saddleback Roadrunners at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Century knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Saddleback likes a good challenge.

Century proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Magnolia 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Centurions have posted since April 9, 2024.

Meanwhile, Saddleback came up short against Rancho Alamitos on Wednesday and fell 22-17. The Roadrunners have struggled against the Vaqueros recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Century has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Saddleback, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything went Century's way against Saddleback in their previous meeting back in March, as Century made off with a 22-15 victory. Will the Centurions repeat their success, or do the Roadrunners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
