Football Recap: Akron Beats Sanford for Their 12th Straight Win + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Akron walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Sanford Mustangs on Saturday as they made off with a 39-16 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.

A big part of Akron's victory came down to the chemistry between Kolten Randel and his top target Jace Curtis. Randel threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes while Curtis picked up 256 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Curtis really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 78 yards. Jakzon Livesay helped Randel out on the ground, rushing for 70 yards and one score.

The win keeps Akron at an undefeated 12-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 43.2 points this season. As for Sanford, they moved to 10-2 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Akron will face off against Haxtun at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fightin' Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them. Sanford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
