Volleyball Recap: Starr's Mill Extends Winning Streak to Three

Starr's Mill entered their tilt with Houston County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bears. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Starr's Mill had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 15-7.

Ember Ness paced Starr's Mill's offense, picking up eight kills. Ness got some help from Katie Gutshall and her 14 assists. Annamarie Torqueza and Sophia Olson kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Starr's Mill's win bumped their record up to 21-11. As for Houston County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Coincidentally, Starr's Mill and Houston County will both be playing Mundy's Mill the next time they take the court. The Bears will head out to face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
