Softball Recap: Bishop Verot's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bishop Verot came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the West Broward Bobcats 11-3. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Crimson Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Bishop Verot got a massive performance out of Willa Pagnutti, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple. McKenna Robbins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Bishop Verot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Broward only posted an OBP of .323.

Bishop Verot's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for West Broward, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Bishop Verot will head out to square off against Riverview Sarasota at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Broward, they will head out on the road to take on Somerset Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
