Basketball Game Preview: Ezekiel Academy Knights vs. Chilton Christian Academy Patriots

The Ezekiel Academy Knights will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Chilton Christian Academy Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ezekiel Academy has 19 straight wins, Chilton Christian Academy has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Ezekiel Academy and Abbeville Christian Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights were the clear victors by a 48-23 margin over the Generals on Thursday. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Ezekiel Academy relied on the efforts of Gianna Johnson, who went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points and six rebounds, and Addi Newell, who posted eight points and five steals. Newell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Hadley Sirmon was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

Ezekiel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Chilton Christian Academy came up short against East Central HomeSchool two weeks ago and fell 44-32.

Ezekiel Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Chilton Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
