Basketball Recap: Austintown-Fitch Starts off Right with Win over Canton Central Catholic

Austintown-Fitch had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 53-50. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered an 86-66 loss the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austintown-Fitch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ej Giles, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 19 points. Those 19 points gave Giles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Evans, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austintown-Fitch will welcome Garrett Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canton Central Catholic, they will host Ursuline at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
