Basketball Recap: Geneva County Takes a Loss

Geneva County lost against Chipley back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Geneva County Bulldogs took a 45-27 bruising from the Chipley Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 311th in Alabama, while the Tigers are ranked 130th in Florida).

Sarayah Hogan was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from deep and dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards for Chipley. Another player making a difference was Sadayah Hogan, who posted ten points and three steals.

Geneva County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Chipley, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Geneva County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Providence Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Chipley, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wicksburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wicksburg's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Chipley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
