Baseball Game Preview: South San Francisco Warriors vs. Mission Bears

The South San Francisco Warriors will take on the Mission Bears at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. South San Francisco is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 11 games.

On Thursday, South San Francisco got the win against Jefferson by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gabriel Martin and Vince Bernal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Martin didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bernal pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one hit in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Martin went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Bernal went 1-for-4 with two runs and one double. Those four RBI gave Martin a new career-high.

In other batting news, Oscar Reyes was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Nabung, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mission came up short against Balboa on Thursday and fell 12-8.

South San Francisco pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mission, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.
