They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fort Collins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 394 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fort Collins' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kaden Souders and Porter Park, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Souders was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks, making seven total tackles, and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Legend strolled past Regis Jesuit with points to spare two weeks ago, taking the game 42-28. The win almost wasn't to be: the Titans were down 28-14 in the second quarter.
Fort Collins better keep an eye on Ryken Banks. He was instrumental in Legend's win, rushing for 181 yards and three scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 100 receiving yards. Banks was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Legend, adding 18 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Freddie Burke, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from him.
Legend didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Reinhart and Burke.
Fort Collins' record now sits at 9-2. As for Legend, their record is now 9-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Fort Collins has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 221.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Legend struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 184.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
