Recap: Bessemer Academy Rebels vs. Morgan Academy Senators
The Bessemer Academy Rebels scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Morgan Academy 90-23 at home. Bessemer Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Bessemer Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kane Burns led the charge by scoring 23 points. That's the first time this season that Burns scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeran Jones, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Morgan Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aidan Barnes. Despite the final result, he scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Morgan Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bessemer Academy racked up 19 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Bessemer Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-1. As for Morgan Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Bessemer Academy will head out on the road to face off against Clarke Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarke Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Morgan Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Dale Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
