Football Game Preview: Pendleton County Wildcat vs. Moorefield Yellow Jackets + How To Watch

The Pendleton County Wildcat will venture away from home to take on the Moorefield Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pendleton County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Pendleton County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Stonewall Jackson 63-44 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcat's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 57th in West Virginia, while the Generals are ranked 340th in Virginia).

Britton Lough had a dynamite game, picking up 181 receiving yards and three scores. Those 181 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Braylon Willis also helped out as he racked up 104 rushing yards.

Pendleton County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Moorefield took a blow against Keyser on Thursday, falling 55-21. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Golden Tornado: they've now lost five in a row.

Pendleton County will need to focus on slowing down Shawn Reed, one of several Moorefield players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 63 yards and one TD. That rushing touchdown was Reed's first of the season. Moorefield also got a significant boost from Matthew Iman, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.

Pendleton County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.2 points over those games. As for Moorefield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Pendleton County won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, slipping by Moorefield 41-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcat since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
