El Capitan is a perfect 5-0 against Point Loma since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The El Capitan Vaqueros will head out to take on the Point Loma Pointers at 3:30 p.m. El Capitan has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

El Capitan managed to slip by Westview the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. El Capitan came up short against Westview on Wednesday, falling 15-7.

El Capitan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Farris, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Another was Brynlie Ford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Point Loma hadn't done well against Mission Hills recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Point Loma narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mission Hills 4-2.

Annika Isaacson and Siena Balistreri did most of the damage at the plate: Isaacson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Balistreri went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double was Isaacson's first of the season.

Point Loma has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. El Capitan now has a losing record of 2-3.

El Capitan beat Point Loma 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will El Capitan repeat their success, or does Point Loma have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
