Baseball Recap: Collinsville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Section

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Collinsville). They put the hurt on the Section Lions with a sharp 16-0 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Collinsville got a great performance from Zach Clanton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Clanton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Lang, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Killian, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Collinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Collinsville's record is now 6-4. As for Section, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collinsville will take on Ider at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Section, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Section Lions take on Woodville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
