Softball Recap: North Branch Comes Up Short

North Branch had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 19-16 to make it four. They fell just short of the Goodrich Martians by a score of 11-9. Even though they lost, the Broncos' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Addison Cobb (2026) made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Kaylee Pasternak (2027) was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As for Goodrich, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Goodrich's side, Kinsley Pinkelman looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Pinkelman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alisyn Raether, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayannah Jackson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, North Branch will square off against Yale at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Goodrich does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
