Football Recap: Red Springs Starts off Right with Win over Anson

Red Springs gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the Anson Bearcats 32-30.

Chase Boone had an outrageously good game as he threw for 337 yards and five TDs while picking up 16.0 yards per attempt. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Anson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cordarrius Bivens rushed for 200 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 58 receiving yards. Bivens showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 59 yards. Anson also got a significant boost from Tasean Harris, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

Red Springs has already played their next contest, a 36-28 defeat against Pender on the 29th. As for Anson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 38-16 loss against Montgomery Central on the 29th.
