Legend is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Fort Collins is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Titans will host the Lambkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legend knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Fort Collins likes a good challenge.
Two weeks ago, Legend didn't have too much trouble with Regis Jesuit as they won 42-28. The win almost wasn't to be: the Titans were down 28-14 in the second quarter.
It was another big night for Ryken Banks, who rushed for 181 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 100 receiving yards. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 59 yards.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 18 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Freddie Burke, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from him.
Legend didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Reinhart and Burke.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fort Collins walked away with it. They strolled past the Grizzlies with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 42-25. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Lambkins were the better team in the second half.
Legend better keep an eye on Jack McKeon. He was instrumental in Fort Collins' win, rushing for 370 yards and four scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. McKeon has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played.
Fort Collins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 394 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Fort Collins' defense made their presence known, laying out Caeden Reeder three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Kaden Souders and Porter Park, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece. Another thorn in ThunderRidge's side was Souders, who picked up 0.5 sacks, made seven total tackles, and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Legend's record is now 9-1. As for Fort Collins, their record now sits at 9-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Legend has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fort Collins struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 221.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
