Basketball Recap: Knakai Starks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vista PEAK Prep over Rangeview

Vista PEAK Prep was the 61-54 winner over Rangeview when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Vista PEAK Prep Bison fell just short of the Rangeview Raiders by a score of 48-46 on Friday.

Vista PEAK Prep's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Knakai Starks, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points along with seven boards and four blocks. That's the most blocks Starks has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eianna Jackson, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Vista PEAK Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Rangeview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddie Kilmer, who scored 12 points and eight boards. Kilmer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Devyn Davenport was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and eight boards.

Vista PEAK Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Rangeview, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Vista PEAK Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-29 victory against George Washington on the 18th. As for Rangeview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 50-47 win against Denver South on the 18th.
