Twentynine Palms is 2-8 against Coachella Valley since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will face off against the Mighty Arabs at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Twentynine Palms will bounce into Monday's match after beating Yucca Valley, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wildcats blew past the Trojans 12-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Mauricio Montada made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for Twentynine Palms: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jandell Jiminez, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jax Langdon was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Twentynine Palms always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Coachella Valley entered their tilt with Yucca Valley last Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 16-5 win. The Mighty Arabs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Coachella Valley got a massive performance out of Raymond Navarro, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Vince Ponce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
The victory got Coachella Valley back to even at 8-8. As for Twentynine Palms, their record now sits at 8-6.
Twentynine Palms came up short against Coachella Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 6-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
