Softball Recap: Northwest Wins Going Away Against Heights

15 must be Northwest's lucky number: they beat Heights with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Grizzlies were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Falcons. With that victory, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.

Lilly Hoffman and Tharon Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hoffman tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Thomas tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At bat, Hoffman scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Thomas launched this season.

In other batting news, Kam Stubbs was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mia Touchatt, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heights only posted a batting average of .333.

The win got Northwest back to even at 2-2. As for Heights, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Northwest will face off against Great Bend at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heights, they will take on Hutchinson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
