Basketball Recap: Climate Justice Takes a Loss

Climate Justice and Summit Academy squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Climate Justice had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Summit Academy Eagles and fell 79-52. While losing is never fun, Climate Justice can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while Summit Academy is ranked 139th).

Summit Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasper Meissner, who posted 26 points along with six assists and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cincere Tucker, who had 23 points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Climate Justice moved to 10-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Summit Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Climate Justice does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Summit Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Brooklyn Community Arts & Media at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Summit Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 20 matchups.
