The Springboro Panthers will face off against the Talawanda Brave at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Springboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Springboro made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Centerville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Elks by a score of 7-5 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 22, 2025.
Bella Breen made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Aysia Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Talawanda entered their tilt with Edgewood on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Cougars 9-3. Considering the Brave have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrey Hilbert was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bella Cobb, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Talawanda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in 11 consecutive contests.
Springboro has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season. As for Talawanda, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
Both Springboro and Talawanda just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Talawanda struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
