Volleyball Recap: Severna Park Falcons vs. Atholton Raiders

There's no place like home for Severna Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Atholton Raiders on Thursday. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Severna Park wouldn't go down easily and took Atholton into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 20-25, 18-25, 15-9.

Severna Park was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atholton only served 13.

Atholton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kelsey Mason, who had 21 digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Mason a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Brown, who had nine digs and two aces.

Severna Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Atholton, they dropped their record down to 11-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Severna Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. After both having extra time off, Atholton and Guilford Park will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
