Soccer Recap: Richlands Takes Down Cedar Ridge in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Richlands walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 5-2 margin over the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves on Tuesday. Considering Richlands have won eight matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kamrey Watkins and Hailey Goodson scored all five of Richlands' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 43 goals.

Richlands is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four games. As for Cedar Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-10-1.

Looking ahead, Richlands will venture away from home to square off against Western Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western Alamance will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Richlands surely won't give up without a fight. Cedar Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
