Softball Recap: Shiprock Comes Up Short

Shiprock lost to Bloomfield back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chieftains fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 12-11. The Chieftains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shiprock got a massive performance out of Jadyn Benally, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Yonna Etcitty, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Shiprock's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bloomfield, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shiprock will take on Aztec at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bloomfield, they will challenge Albuquerque Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
