Basketball Game Preview: University Bulldogs vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars

The University Bulldogs will challenge the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with University sitting on 22 straight victories and Resurrection Christian on nine.

University's usually-dominant defense will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Highland offense got past them. University had just enough and edged out Highland 58-56. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th in Colorado, while the Huskies are ranked 68th in Colorado), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

University's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Harding led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Harding is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 55% in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie McNair, who posted seven points in addition to 12 boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian earned a 49-37 win over Eaton on Wednesday.

Resurrection Christian's win came from a few key players University will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Olivia Klein, who scored 18 points. Callie Gillespie was another key player, putting up 14 points.

University pushed their record up to 22-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.1 points. As for Resurrection Christian, their win bumped their record up to 21-1.

University came up short against Resurrection Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 60-52. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
