Football Recap: Vista PEAK Prep Comes Up Short

Vista PEAK Prep lost against Erie back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bison had to suffer through a 61-34 loss at the hands of the Tigers. The Bison were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-21.

Loss or not, Vista PEAK Prep got some senior leadership from Canaan Barthlow and Isaiah Watson. Barthlow threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, while Watson picked up 197 receiving yards and four scores. Barthlow's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bison's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.

Vista PEAK Prep is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4. As for Erie, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Vista PEAK Prep is set to square off against their familiar foe Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Erie will challenge rival Mullen at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 955 yards in their previous games.
