It was fun while it lasted, but Blue Ridge's undefeated season came to an end after 21 games on Friday. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntington Expression Prep Kings. The loss put an end to the Barons' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Blue Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derrius Jones went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Jones. Another player making a difference was Justin Huang, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Blue Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Having lost for the first time this season, Blue Ridge fell to 21-1. As for Huntington Expression Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Blue Ridge and Oak Hill Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Blue Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Oak Hill Academy likes a good challenge. Huntington Expression Prep has already played their next game (against Pikeville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
