Soccer Game Preview: St. Francis vs. Providence Catholic

The St. Francis Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Providence Catholic Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

St. Francis is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Fenwick on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Friars by a score of 1-0. St. Francis haven't had much luck with Fenwick recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 5-1 win. Providence Catholic might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by four goals or more this season.

They hit IC Catholic Prep with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from James Nagle (2), Jovanny Gonzalez (2), and Lucas Garcia.

Providence Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-2. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3-2.

St. Francis couldn't quite get it done against Providence Catholic in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
