Football Preview: Walsenburg Panthers vs. Hoehne Farmers
The Walsenburg Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Hoehne Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Walsenburg has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 29.
Walsenburg's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Fowler on Friday. They had to suffer through a 60-0 loss at the hands of the Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Custer County kept up with Hoehne until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Farmers blew past the Bobcats 61-27. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Farmers considering their eight-point performance the contest before.
Walsenburg better keep an eye on Brody Silvey. He was instrumental in Hoehne's win, rushing for 345 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 16.4 yards per carry. Silvey didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles and defended ten passes. Another player making a difference was Jake Magninat, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD.
Hoehne was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 506 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Hoehne's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bracyn Seeders.
Walsenburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hoehne, their record now sits at 3-5.
