Basketball Preview: Stevens Falcons vs. O'Connor Panthers
The Stevens Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the O'Connor Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stevens will be strutting in after a victory while the Panthers will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Stevens earned a 41-34 victory over the Raiders. The win was just what Stevens needed coming off of a 68-42 loss in their prior contest.
Stevens' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Giana Monda, who scored 11 points, and Andra Stokes, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for O'Connor, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-52 loss to the Warriors on Friday. O'Connor has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, O'Connor saw an underclassman step up: Casey Chavez scored 23 points along with six steals. Chavez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Simone Pryor, who scored 17 points.
Stevens' victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-18. As for O'Connor, they now have a losing record at 14-15.
Stevens was able to grind out a solid victory over the Panthers in their previous matchup back in January, winning 66-54. Does Stevens have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
