Basketball Recap: Cushman Comes Up Short

After flying high against Pinecrest Glades Academy on Monday, Cushman came back down to earth. The Cougars came up short against the Gulliver Prep Raiders on Wednesday, falling 68-45. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Gulliver Prep found their leader in sophomore Nico Leal, who shot 53% from the field en route to 17 points and four steals. Leal is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dennis Obsaint, who posted ten points and five boards.

Cushman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Gulliver Prep, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cushman will welcome North Miami Beach at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gulliver Prep, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against NSU University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Sharks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
